Fire and Reign

Have you heard of this? The baptist churches around the country, at least those in the BGC, will be participating in a ten week spiritual renewal and nationwide prayer. It starts March 5th and goes until the first week of June.
It's been carefully planned with little hints each week of what Fire and Reign is. I was intrigued by the name and the new banners in our sanctuary with their titles and teaser a few weeks ago.
It consists of weekly prayer groups at church before the Sunday morning service, small group study one night a week, a fasting Tuesday each month, and then a big Fire and Reign weekend in June with a special speaker.
So a couple Wednesdays ago, the pastor was passing around one particular sign up sheet. We have to choose a small group to join, I prayed about it and was lead to join Marlene and Hoagie Ostlund's group. So I signed up. First step done. It's still a big committment on my part and Paul's since it's ten weeks long and his second job starts, but we also discussed which time and day would work best and Sunday night worked well.
So today as I ran around bringing the kids to and fro, my friend Tammy Frost(Wunder) called and offered to watch my kids Sunday nights so that Paul and I could go to Fire and Reign together! I was overwhelmed that she was so thoughtful to even think of that and that God was working his will before my eyes. I honestly hadn't even thought about the two of us going together to it. I guess I was in the thought that it would be more of a spiritual renewal for Christians that were fighting the good fight and needed a lift. A small group setting could be just the atmosphere that would make Paul feel comfortable being who he is and asking what is on his mind. And the group that I happened to pick are members that he also is quite comfortable around. So I will be really praying that he will consider going. He said he would think about it and was also impressed that Tammy would offer so generously like that. I'm sure we'll be under attack now that he's considering going, please keep us in your prayers.
Some sad news came today. My Great Aunt Karen died last night. My mom and I had hoped to travel down to Holland Friday night and see her and we were just too late. I had considered going Wednesday morning alone too, but Katia got sick this week. She was really suffering the past two weeks and the daughters were able to be at her side right till the end. Our family is dwindling and that is hard to accept. What's harder than that is those we love that aren't saved. I know I need to reach further.
