Well, it seems that things are settling down a bit around here. Dad went back out on the road this week and my mom will be going home tonight. At least my parents are on the mend and I've seen answered prayer in that regard.
I found two little tomatoes on my plants yesterday! Yeah! I was starting to think I was only raising plants and no veggies! My cucumbers have big yellow blossoms too, so maybe we'll see some of those babies soon!
I think I've figured out that I had/have mono. I think it's almost over with, maybe since my throat is not as sore the past couple days and my neck glands don't hurt anymore. And since there's no medicine for it anyway, I'll just continue to wait it out. The chiro suggested I take 5000mg of vitamin C, so I've been taking that and Katia and Tayton are also taking 1000mg too since they've been fighting something as well. I haven't been sleepy per say, but have felt physically exhausted by days end.
Aren't these gas prices awful? I don't understand the recent interviews around here either. People say, oh it hasn't affected us at all, we'll still travel like before. Hmm. Must be nice. I don't think they are interviewing the average people. We've cut back big time. Some times taking our truck right off the road and down to one car for a month at a time, mowing our grass less, and less trips to town. If we decrease the demand and refuse to pay it, it has to come down. I think maybe there's not enough people though that are willing to do that. Paul's going to try to ride his bike to work, six miles one way a couple times next week. That's if his ankle can handle it. It's still swollen and he still can't run, or pivot on it. So we're not sure if he could ride a bike that far so he wants to do a test run this weekend to see how long it takes and if his ankle hurts. It's cooled off here too and next week should also be cooler. We'll see.
I made some cool new recipes this week. Some the fam loved and some not. We found out that me and Tayton are the only ones that like pesto last night! Oh well. We had that with meatloaf last night. Tonight we're having grilled chicken with chirmol salsa. I had to buy one jalepeno pepper yesterday for it. I asked the produce guy which pepper was the jalepeno since they had several types that color and size. All he could tell me for sure without asking was to stay clear of habaneros- he burnt his intestines eating one- TMI!! So he went and asked and hopefully we have the right one. The tomatoes for the salsa are grilled first, then smashed and made into this salsa. I hope it's good. After dinner, I'll go and pick up mom from the nursing home, pack up her stuff and we'll go grocery shopping and then she'll get to go home. She's supposed to get her cast off today and then will maybe be able to use a walker. She's going home with a wheelchair too.
We'll have bonfire Saturday, I'm going to make that croatian chicken again, one last time and probably smores for the kids later on. Maybe we'll get some fishing in this weekend too. We can walk to the river which is nice. We've yet to catch something to eat! Maybe the cooler weather will help. So till next time...have a good weekend!
