A love so sweet

My kids are such a blessing to me and I just had to write from an overflowing heart. We've spent most of the weekend together, which was nice. No places to run, just being a family feels good. Tyler, Katia, and I went golfing yesterday morning. We were given a golf cart from our inlaws a couple of years ago. Most of the time, it's the fun thing for the kids to ride around the yard on. We don't have a trailer for it so the two other times I've golfed this year with the kids, we've had to rent a cart. Well that costs more than a 9 hole round of golf, so we borrowed a trailer and took it yesterday.
I only took Katia one other time a few weeks back, and taught her the basics. She actually remembered most of it and was really hitting the ball great. She seemed to run out of steam a few holes before the end of our game. And Tyler, well that boy beat his mom on several holes! When we got home, I asked Katia if she liked golfing, she said,"No, it's too much work and kind of boring." and with that she gave me a hug as if to say, I'm sorry:-) That girl is a natural too. Tyler said he'd like to golf everyday- yeah me too buddy!
We had our bonfire/cookout last night. I made chicken, corn on the cob, and potato hobo pie things. I'm not sure what to call them- potatoes, onions, and seasonings in tinfoil:0) The fire makes everything and I mean everything a smokey flavor- I could barely stand the smell of my hair last night! I think cause I was so close to the fire-cooking that I just pretty much reaked! It all tasted great- I've not made corn on the cob on the grill or fire before and that was a real treat.
Today was the best too. Tayton stayed home with Paul this morning and so the older two and I went to church. My Katia is and has always been such a cuddler. Every week in church, she sits right next to me and I usually put my arm around her. If we stand up and sing, she reaches for my arm and puts it back around her. She's a sweet blessing that girl. She goes downstairs in the middle of the service for a kids church and then it's just Tyler and I. Most times he's reading in Revelations during the service, but today he was glued to our youth pastor's message. I was encouraged to see this interest as he has said that sometimes it's hard to understand our regular pastor's message. And while I am looking forward to our pastor's return from vacation, Tyler learned about identifying false teachers- a good thing for us all to know for sure. I talked with a close friend, Marlene Ostlund after the service. She has become a real mentor to me in the past couple years and tears filled both of our eyes as she explained how she prays for our family and for Paul. I knew that she and Hoagie always prayed for him, but to see her cry about it, really touched my heart. Only God could have put her in my life way back in 5th grade and again now in my life.

We came home, Tayton greeting us at the door. He's been such a cuddler today too, only a love like this could be from God. I'm blessed.

Yes- the best root beer floats too! Tayton had the most or a close second to Paul eh? We decided to forgo dinner infact cause we were all pretty full. So Joy, since you said they have been your downfall lately, just replace a meal with one:-)
Tia- thanks- the corn was good- a little more work than just boiling it, but I think it might have been quicker overall to cook it outdoors.
