Quenching!

That's the only word I can think of to describe our nice long weekend. Saturday night we had a bonfire, roasted dogs and 'mallows and made smores. Course our little guy didn't much like the fire so Mom and he went inside not long after going out. Tyler's buddy, Brandon came over, he's been here nearly everyday and we're beginning to feel like he's just another kid in our family! He's a good boy though, and is very respectful and even nice to Katia. Get this, he came over tonight and brought the kids blue moon ice cream sandwiches!

After getting Tayton down for bed last night, I went out to try and cook some croatian chicken over the fire on our tripod. It was all going great and then, drop, drop, drop, down came the rain! I hurried up and gathered everything and made it inside before the downpour came. There's no relaxing bonfire for mom:-) Oh, well, the chicken had just the right amount of smokey flavor and I finished them in the oven. Paul said it was the best chicken he had ever had, the flavor was all the way through- it was pretty great and I will definately do that again! The only thing is that I cheated and bought the chicken at our grocery store already croatian seasoned and I have searched and searched online hoping to find the recipe and I'm out of luck. They always have croatian chicken at the fair- everyone raves about it like Norm's french fries and since Paul is croatian, I thought I better try this stuff out! It's very pricey at the fair, but at the grocery store I got like four drumsticks and four thighs for like a $1.50!

So today, we had church and more rain- holy cow- a ton of rain, the streets were flooded in town and we were in a flash flood warning today. The kids and I had to wait in the car for a while before we could make a run for it. I was thinking how thankful I was to have the shelter of my car at that particular moment- it was thundering and lightening quite a bit too. Then about 11am, everything cleared right up and dryed out and it was a beautiful day. It was 75 most of the day, a little muggy, but we flew Katia's kite at the park, went down by the beach, had ice cream cones on the way home and picked up my father in laws chainsaw. Paul cut down an ugly tree and trimmed one of our pines. We have so much wood to burn!

Tyler is spending the night at Brandon's tonight. I was a bit apprehensive, but I guess I need to let go a little to my ten year old, eh? I just don't feel like I know his new dad well enough, but Paul does and assures me that we can trust that everything will be fine. He's just a mile away and I told Tyler to just call me if he wanted to come home. I remember the first time he went camping with his old best friend Zach- I had Paul drive there just to check on him and make sure he was alright- am I crazy or what? He was fine of course and Zach's parents were the best-all the same morals and ideas about things as us, I sure miss them. But get this, Brandon's dad and Zach's mom are cousins- so that makes it easier too...a little bit anyway- okay I'm still going to be very anxious when he come home tomorrow morning:-)

I talked to my dad and Grandma tonight- the family had a great weekend together and everyone will be leaving tomorrow. I'm sure Grandma will be so lonesome. Dad brought his puppy to her apartment and smuggled him in. As I was talking, ole shifter started barking and Grandma joked that she'd get evicted if he didn't quiet down.

Well Katia just got up and is not feeling so well, so I'm off to find some Emetrol. Good night!
