-when you have a toddler. I attempted to attend a play that Tyler was in for school yesterday morning. Tayton and I, that is. We brought grapes which many ended up on the floor of the gymnasium because as I was trying to hold him still and not release him to run up to his brother, down they went. We then tried to just stand in the back, that worked for about five minutes and then we had to actually leave before I could even see Tyler's part. I felt so horrible. We made it about 25 minutes though, and to Tayton's defense, the play was right during his usual nap time. What can you do?
-when it's bedtime. Katia lets us know at bedtime that her ear hurt really bad. We gave her a corn pack and she made it through the night. I managed to get her in to the ENT for noon today, remember how back in April he sort of blew us off? Today should be interesting...
-when you're on one income. We had our big car show here this past weekend. I had already written off not going because of Fire and reign, but Paul and the kids had hoped to go. Well, with Paul being off work for three weeks and then the wait you have to get another check, you just have to skip out on things like car shows, for now. Paul accepted this fact surprisingly well, which made it alot easier on us both, but then you have ten million people asking, "Why didn't you go to the car show? or where's your car?" To the common enthusiast that you only see at that time of year, the question is only normal, but to those that know the situation, why ask? It's like driving the salt into the wound. Sometimes in-laws should just go away for a while.:0)
As so for now...
we are planning for the summer, the kids' last day of school is tomorrow. They both want to go to Lake Ellen during the week that our youth pastor goes which is July 2-8th. The fourth is in there as well as Katia's birthday, which will make things very dull around here, but that's also just the way it goes! I have to check and see if they will do something special for her up there on her birthday. I was sort of hoping she would just go for the mini week the 5th-8th, mostly because I think she may get homesick over a whole week, but she's assured me that she will be fine. Tyler will be far out back in the teepees again so I don't think she will be seeing him at all. She invited her best friend to go, but she'll be in Chicago...so we'll see. There's a little girl at church named Madelyn that she's hoping will go and that she could room with. It's a large expense for families these days. The kids both earned their gold awards so they each get a hundred dollars off which makes it much easier for us to afford, but most kids didn't get that award so they will have to pay the full amount. Youch!
Vacation bible school starts next week too. Kids don't have time to be bored during the summer that's for sure! And then Tyler will be going with Paul and Dad on their second annual fishing trip towards the end of the month.
That's what up at the Hosking's- my thought today is...don't worry about what you can't change, pray about what you can.
