How does she do it?

We had dinner tonight at my Dad and Joy's. She hadn't planned on us or anyone else for that matter. It's often the way it goes, we come over, she invites us to stay and eat and we enjoy it. And it's always a big meal. Sometimes it's roast or brats, or jambalaya, whatever. The incredible gift that Joy has is that no matter how many people come through that door, she feeds everyone. One time last month, nearly our entire family showed up and she fed us all roast, mashed potatoes, and the trimmings. I believe there were thirteen of us! And the only ones that were expected were Mike and Renee's four and then seven more of us showed up and were invited to stay. It's humbling really, I have noticed she and Dad wait to dish up to make sure that we all have some on our plates. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. And as I see this time and time again, I think of the following miracles.

There were two that I know of in the bible where Jesus fed first five thousand people with five loaves of bread and then another time where he fed four thousand with seven loaves of bread. I wonder how this was accomplished. I mean did each person get a communion size piece or did they seem to have an endless supply to fill them to satisfaction like we do at Joy's?

While we thank her for the meal, I wonder if she truely knows how much she is appreciated? It is something that I hope I can provide when my kids are grown and show up for dinner with their gang. So thank you Joy for this blessing that you have shown us many times. I still don't know how you do it!

Yes, exactly! I tried to make a meal for them last night and it sort of flopped. Oh the food was okay, I just didn't have enough forks(I think they are sitting at Paul's work), not enough chairs, glasses- I was pretty bummed out, but you know, my house is pretty much overrun with kids' plastic cups, nothing fancy around here. Oh well. Some people just "got it and other just don't" and I just don't:0)
