There's a fifty-three Cadillac sitting on my desk, Elvis is playing on the dvd player, Dad turns fifty-five today, and I'm feeling tossed back in time. I've always loved the Beach boys, Elvis, old cars from the fifties and sixties, poodle skirts, peddle pushers(or are they called puddle pushers?)Ha! Aside from the wars from those days, it seems that life was so much more simple. I wish I had been a teenager then. Course the romaticised Grease movies put a longing in my heart for those days even more.
The forties always intrigued me too, with flappers dancing and swing music. I think I was born into the wrong generation! My Grandma used to tap dance back then with her husband, Leo. They would really "light" up the town! I think she really liked the music of Marty Robbins, right mom?
So what does this generation have to offer? Not alot in my book. Oh, there's many things we have that make our life simpler in these days. Gas guages that work, not having to hitch hike because your '55 Chevy ran out of gas AGAIN! My car even tells me when I need to check my air in my tires! I remember getting upset when I was sixteen because my '68 Cutlass needed a new starter. I remember complaining to my dad about it and he said, remember Gina, this car is really old and things do eventually have to be replaced. Well, you know they just don't make cars as good as they did back then! I still have that '68 and you know, it's cost me alot less to own than my newer car. Can't we just go back to the old days!
