A New Year- 2006

Happy New Year! While the end of 2005 left many of us here wondering if we are experiencing the end time prophecies, yesterday's sermon put alot of things at ease for me. We had yet another death in our little church- his name is Roger Dieter- only 52 and another heart attack. His funeral is tomorrow. I felt so sad yesterday morning without the Mylander's sitting behind me and without the usual greeting from Marvin, "God love you." We had an awesome duet from the Kriegl's(Bev Frasier and her husband) and a few shared some sweet memories of Marvin. It was said that Marvin left us all with a whole the size of his heart in our lives that no one else can fill. He loved us all and really showed it. But what made a difference was a passage our pastor spoke on in John 9- where Lararus dies and Jesus waited four days to go to Judea to comfort the people. In short, we don't have to fear death and yet we do even as Christians at times. Death of the righteous, or those that we think live lives that should last forever end at God's time and for his glory. He is working in those families, even in our church family. Maybe we'll come to appreciate each other just a little more and not be so afraid to express what they mean to us.

Tyler and I went to the movies the other night to see the Chronicles of Narnia- I had read the book when I was young, but the movie was spectacular! He's reading the whole series and I may just have to do the same. I hope more movies will be made. When we left the theater, we had about six new inches of snow and it literally looked like the winter Narnia here for a few days!

Our New Year's Eve was great, low key! I broiled steaks, onions, and mushrooms and made baked potatoes. The kids went to bed about 10 and I forced myself to stay awake with Paul to see the ball drop. I guess we're getting old!

The kids and I went sledding at Ludington park yesterday. We got about a foot of snow on New year's so the kids were eager to hit the hills. Tayton even went down once with Tyler, but then they couldn't get back up the hill. So I grabbed Katia's snow tube and flew down to the rescue, ha, ha! It was exhilarating! I hadn't been on a sled in years, alot of years! Snow pretty much covered my face and I got pretty soaked with just jeans on, but I definately want a snow tube of my own! They are much more comfy than those hard plastic ones we had as kids.

Hope you all had a good New Year, keep blogging!
