From my buddy, Pastor Gene Slagstad. It's fitting for me today and thought maybe you'd like it too.
The Rugged Road
As you walk this rugged road of life,
Have you fought the lonely blues?
Have you felt, no one knows; what it's like
To be walking in your shoes?
Does the grind seem: repetitious,
And repetitious it must be?
To stray from our routine path,
Gives you fear of being free?
Do others; look upon you,
As the :straight and narrow guy?
But you often feel as David did,
*If you had wings: away you'd fly?
It's not wrong to have these feelings,
At times; not wrong to hate the grind!
It's not wrong to look at others,
And feel; you've been left behind!
All these things would seem so different,
If you only understood,
That others are walking; the same rugged road,
And if they could be like you: they would!
Yes, the grass all think is greener,
On the plot of ground; next door,
But theirs have the same weeds your does,
At close inspection, maybe more!
So thank God He made you able,
To walk the road that'll soon be gone.
And the one of gold He's prepared for you,
You'll soon be walking on!
