Quiet times

Paul, Katia, and Tyler left yesterday for the big fishing trip on Hwy 13. Usually it's only a guy thing- there's usually about 6 guys and then boys that plan this trip in December or January. But this year, Katia was asked to go. I himmed and hawwed it- the only girl phenomenon and with her sensitive feelings. I finally caved and said she could go. The temps dipped down last night in the 30's and this is first week off of her pulmicort. My main worry is that she'll end up sick for Lake Ellen which is Sunday until next Saturday. We were told by her dr. to go off the pulmicort(a steroid to treat asthma) for a week and then back on for a week to determine if she was having some reactions related to it. For a week or more she was having a hard time sleeping, had a loss of appetite, stomach pains, and was shakey. I've been anxious for the green light for her to stop taking that medicine anyway so hopefully she'll be able to go without it and just have her rescue inhaler. If she gets sick, there won't be time to go to the dr. before she goes to Lake Ellen. Ah, she'll probably be fine anyway!
So they'll be home late Saturday night, I'll wash their things and sleeping bags and then Sunday morning we're off for Lake Ellen.
So me and Tayton have been hanging out. He rode on the lawn mower with me last night and we mowed the back yard. We went to town early today. I needed to renew the registration for my car, go to the bread store, and then we went down to the beach for while. It was so awesome there this morning. There was no wind and we were the only ones there at 10:30am! That was sort of weird, but it quickly filled up with little kids for swimming lessons around 11. After his nap, he swam in the pool for a while, we played in the sandbox and on the swings- he should sleep pretty well tonight. In the down times, I've actually been getting alot of cleaning done. It's kind of nice that when I clean something- it stays clean for the most part- Tayton isn't the messy one in the house!
I don't sleep well when Paul's gone. I'm a big chicken. I have to check the house a few times to make sure there's no one lurking outside, lock all the doors and windows, etc. It's crazy I know. But I guess moreso since two weeks ago, when my neighbor told me that at 6 or 6:30am, there was a deputy sheriff in our backyard- alone. It gave me the creeps big time. We don't have curtains on our french door in our room so it's a bit of vulnerable feeling to know that someone could be just standing there looking in. Either they were looking for someone, or the deputy was a big creepo.
Then there's this neighbor that we have who seems to hate us. He's a few houses down- actually he lives with his mother who is also taking care of his three kids. The majority of the time, he's working some weird job downstate. I say weird because his kids told ours that he makes $1000 a day for a while and then comes back here, hmmm. His kids are here practically 24/7 and he's never so much as acknowleged us or said hello. He'll come down, yell at them, and drive off. We had invited the kids to VBS and he was angry about that too. So our kids are okay to pacify their time, but otherwise....it's just irritating. So needless to say, the safe secure neighborhood is just a littly more edgy lately. At least for me. At least our nearest neighbors are great!
That's what's going on here. Tomorrow we'll probably go back down to the beach and visit my mom and/or Joy. Maybe stop at a couple rummage sales along the way. Well, my little Tayton needs a shower and to get to bed- he's getting slap happy!
Take care everyone!
