Paul and I took Tayton down to Marshfield Sunday night. We weren't able to leave until 9:30pm though so we didn't get there till 1am. We weren't able to stay at the RMH, but found a decent hotel. Unfortunately, and as expected- Tayton was up all night so I think I managed to squeeze in three hours of sleep. Ugh. This is pretty typical of the last year though. Tayton has never slept a night in his life and wakes up on average about three times a night. Overall, our doctor's recommendations were sort of what I had expected. The gastro doubled Tayton's dose of prevacid and is also including a new prescription for a type of stool softener. He did some bloodwork also because his weight growth percentile is dropping. A month ago he was 35% for his weight and as of yesterday, was only 25%- his height is 75%. There were a couple of numbers that were out of limits, but I need to talk to the doctor about them as Paul had talked to the dr. while I nursed Tayton and he wasn't sure what was what. I guess something indicated a tendency for higher than normal food allergies or something. Anyway, he has to go back down when he's eighteen months for another pH study overnight and then we'll go from there. The hope between now and then is that a miracle will happen and he will just stop having this reflux. Surgery is the very last resort. The doctor said that some kids just get used to being in pain. The thought of that just brings tears to my eyes. I hate the fact that he's in pain at all, much less that he's had to deal with this for the past year and is still so much in pain. But to think that he might just have to live like that in this day and age is inconceivable. So we're hoping this new dosage will help to ease it and allow him to sleep.
Well, as promised, I have a cute story to go along with this. In the doctor's office, we had to wait probably a half hour for the doctor in the examination room. Of course there is a shortage of toys to occupy a one year old for that length of time, so diaper clad little Tayt decides to perform a tune up on the doctor's round stool. Of course his little hands were covered in grease that he also rubbed on his chest as if to say, "I'm man, hear me roar!!!" So we scrambled to get the grease off him before the doctor came and explained that his chair should work like never before! Like father, like son I guess!
Katia's dance class started back up today. Tyler wants to join flag football through the YMCA, but we usually have him only do sports in the summer so that there isn't so many things competing with homework and Word of Life. They both have a daily devotion they do for that. Summer is truly a nice reprieve from the demands of the year and now it's wrapping up. It's been the best summer up here in years. We haven't had much rain, but it's been a hot year. It's been 85 the last two days and that's very warm for us even into fall.
I guess I'll sign out for now.

Hello Gigi,
Well there is good news today- he only woke up once last night and is actually napping now- going on nearly an hour and a half! That's very very good for him. I actually got some sleep last night and feel like a million bucks today! Thank you for your prayers!
