Eventful Mondays

Well today turned out to be quite the day. Katia woke up a little out of sorts, not very motivated to get ready for school, couldn't eat barely a few bites of her cereal, and just looking a little off. Sure enough she had a fever. No other symptoms, but Tayton had the same thing last week. So she cried her little eyes out that she would have to miss school and back to bed she went. Today was supposed to be my grocery shopping day, but since she was home we were stuck here without a whole lot to choose from much less the basics for a fever. So my dear sweet husband called and said he could come home at lunch time and bring us what we needed. Ten minutes after he called and left work, the school called and said that Tyler was in the office with a 102 degree fever. So Paul came home only to run back to town and get Tyler at school. He made it back to work in time fortunately.
For those that don't know my husband, he is the energizer rabbit for sure. He just keeps going and going and going. Our addition started a month or so ago and he's only had to take a day off from work to work on it. And he's been working two jobs all summer also. He gets home from work, eats, and works on the house if he doesn't have to work at the Fun Park. I guess the only thing I could complain about is that we don't get much time together except for trips to Iron Mountain to Home depot or working together on the house! But he tries to make time with the kids as much as possible. He took them to the Fun Park last night to ride the gocarts and bumper boats. Elaine Mills owns the park and each week with his paycheck, she gives him "Fun Bucks" to use there for the kids. They had a blast. This is his last week of work at the Fun Park though so hopefully we can manage to find some time together to relax soon.
So anyway, I was putting away dishes today and Tayton managed to get his hands on a small bottle of baby oil and spilled it all over himself and the carpet. I was most worried that he might have either swallowed some or got some up his nose. I saw a special once on Dateline about a baby that had died from inhaling baby oil into it's lungs. The parents took him to the dr.'s several times and they didn't know what was wrong with him until he then passed away. So the worrywart in me, will be watching him like a hawk for the next week for any kind of cold/coughing symptoms. I feel really horrible about it. Please keep him in prayer just in case. I am sure I have at least 20 new gray hairs after today. Who said being a stay home mom was easy? I sure feel inadequate at times.
Well, this post isn't so upbeat so I'll end here.

Good morning Tia,
Thanks for this post, sure makes me feel better. It seems like you are so organized even being outnumbered though! Most of the time, I feel like I'm just coasting through each day on a hope and a prayer! It is getting somewhat easier with less nursing now though.
I guess I do the homeopathic somewhat- if the kids have a fever and no major cough, I let them fight it off. If it's a higher fever then I'll give them some tylenol and if it stays high or if they have some other symptoms, we usually end up at the dr's. As you will find out, in a small living area, it's so hard to keep everyone separated so they don't all catch it! LYSOL is a staple around here:-)
Well, thanks again and have a good day!
