Have you been to the grocery store in the last couple days? Um....I think this is worse than Y2K ever hoped to be. I wanted some tomatoes for a salad, no tomatoes. People apparently heard about the sudden rise in tomatoes before I did. Cheese jumped up higher too- a bag of shredded cheddar- $2.63. A five pound bag of sugar Tuesday at Walmart was $4.83. On the upside, since all the hoopla with being "GREEN", paper plates are nice and cheap- $.99! I hear various stores have toilet paper cheap as well. Weird. Are we going to stop using toilet paper next? Apparenly that is what Scott paper fears:-)
Gas here is $3.67 a gallon. I mentioned to Paul that we're going to have to look at the budget again tonight cause with both gas and food super high, something else has to give. Maybe we'll have to shorten our anniversary trip. At least the places we want to go are within a hour drive of here.
If you look at the big picture in the scope of the average family of five on one income, even two modest incomes- the rise of prices in the places that hurt the most, are going to directly affect everything. I told Paul this morning also that I think if I was a presidential nominee right now and looking at the state of our country, I think I just might fold the hand. This is a huge problem that I don't think any of the nominees are equipped to try to tackle. Even old Bush has had "mums the word" attitude. This scares the daylights out of me- anybody else?
