The tea was very nice and we had a good turnout even with the Christmas parade going on and also Grace's tea all on the same night. Ladies from Grace even came to ours! Some people like the good ole fashioned ladies tea I heard. Grace changed theirs to an "extravaganza" with gifts and contests. There were alot of ladies from St. Anne's as well.
When it was all said and done though, unfortunately I saw the ugly sides of some women that really changed my attitude. Sunday morning, I didn't even want to go to our church. Satan was sure on attack- I felt like I should find a new church! I realized right away that the feelings I was having were not from God so I prayed that he would change my attitude and that I would be able to be nice to these ladies that hurt me. WOMEN! It's so hard to get along with them! I was so spoiled when I worked because I worked with all men. There just wasn't the cattiness and drama. With guys, what you see is what you get and they don't backstab.
Well, that prayer was answered. I felt so much better once I got to church- and those ladies- I was nice to them- even giving them a little affectionate squeeze on their arms when I saw them. Heaping those coals is alot better than trying to keep things inside. Kill them with kindness used to be my favorite motto- now it's "heaping coals upon their heads" and "return good for evil". I have to keep whispering it to myself, but it works.
So you may ask, will you decorate next year? Probably not, but we'll see. It's too soon to say. Judy, Bev and I worked so well together so if it was the three of us again, maybe. I know that being on the food committee for so long, I have learned some things that others haven't so maybe I should use my gift there. My friend Tammy taught me alot before she left and I heard comments from visitors that they liked the food better back then. We had a simple buffet then with different sorts of meatballs, cheese, fruit skewers, and then elegant jello, desserts, and cookies. Everything was given alot of thought in regards to presentation- we wanted the ladies to feel really special with pretty things. Now, well it's just not that way. Oh well- the program was the main thing- and it was awesome! The Povich daughters sang beautifully, and then Don's drama was excellent.
Women are so unique in feelings. Katia recently has been struggling with some emotional stuff. I picked her up Friday at school for lunch to have a talk with just her and I. She was so happy, she said it made her day. I think she's going through something with being the middle child or something. She wants praise and attention that Tyler has been getting with his band and basketball. She has dance, but we only get to see her perform once a year. I told her that she does have her solos though too. Paul brings Tyler to school each day and she seemed miffed about that cause she takes the bus. But her bus comes later than his. He can get a little more sleep if he rides with dad. So after lunch, I was relieved that it wasn't something more going on with her. I just have to make sure that I make a point to give her more attention.
I wonder why God made women so much different in personality than men? Why are we so emotional and touchy. I mean obviously it's hormones, but it sure seems like men have it alot easier. Must be because of that Eve! Not only do we have the curse of painful childbirth, but we also have added drama. Lord help us all!

Gina I remember the teas at Calvary...I was asked to solo at the first one I attended...I felt honored and humbled as I had such a high respect for the Calvary fellowship. What was the name of the guy who did the drama? I made some costumes for a guy named Don who does that type of thing and wondered it it was the same guy. Give Kat a hug for me...its hard being a girl these days especially in the middle. What is an update on the Andersons....I think of them so often and pray for them.
Hello!
Don Windmiller- he is part of the Baptist General Conference down in Arlington Hghts. He does wear costumes so maybe you do know him. He's very gifted!
The Andersons- Bob is still in the nursing home- Doris does have pancreatic cancer- she first opted not to try any chemo, but is now trying a new type and if it doesn't make her sick, she'll continue with it- otherwise she won't have treatment. Her daughter Susie came in from MN to stay with her for a while until she goes back to Mayo I think. Doris has a really hard time especially in the mornings. Did you know Gloria Orr? We just found out that she also has cancer- she'll be moving I guess to a cancer center in WI I think. Her daughter lives near it also. I firmly believe alot of the cancer is due to Mead. At one time, there was a link to breast cancer along the bluff and Lake Shore Drive in Gladstone and Mead's dioxin emissions. Bob, Doris, Dale Ann Beaver, and Gloria all live up there. Dale Ann passed away last year- she had colon cancer. It's so sad. I try to think that they get to be in heaven sooner than the rest of us, it's just such a painful disease.
