Door to door

Late last week we got our first batch of youth group discount cards. It's a fundraiser that our church is doing to raise money for the youth to be able to go on trips. I didn't like the whole idea to begin with, prayed about it and felt led to vote against it in a board meeting. I was the only opposed so it passed. It was eating away at me. In March, we had to make some painful cuts to our budget, of the most drastic was to missions. So this is why I was opposed to the whole fundraiser. How could we, with a clear conscience, say that our youth trips are more important than the quality of life of a missionary in New Guinea? So it ate away at my spirit. I prayed the Lord would soften my heart, that I wouldn't be guilty of being stubborn or wanting things my way. That if the other board members thought it was okay, that I would accept it. And I think the Lord worked on my heart because when the cards arrived- I vowed to do the best I could for it. So that it wouldn't fail. So we have been going door to door to sell these. On the front of the card, it says "YOUTH- working hard for God and community." That bugged me too- how would selling a discount card be considered working for God? It seemed to me that it would be in serving yourself. So Tyler, Katia, and I decided that we would give out tracts with each person who bought one. We'd of liked to give them to everyone, but we didn't have many tracts. We've sold 26 cards so far- at least that many tracts were given out. The seeds planted.
Katia went to Lake Ellen yesterday for the week and Tyler will go next week for two weeks.

Here's a thought to the fellow Christians out there-
If you aren't afraid to recommend a good book or a great movie to a friend, why would you be afraid to recommend a relationship with the Lord and Savior?
