New things

I'm back! Or I should say that my computer is back. Paul found a new/used monitor from a local computer geek store for only $20!!! The guy seems to think that he can increase the ram I have too so maybe I wouldn't even need a new computer afterall. And it's only $5 for a new cd drive, which is also broke on mine. Very cool!
My grandma moved back to Michigan. She had lived in Florida for at least 25 years and never envisioned moving back to the cold U.P. Now when she lived here before, it was with my Aunt Chris. My uncle built her this beautiful room in their home- it was a soft yellow with butterfly wallpaper. I think it even had yellow carpeting and a skylight! I lived there for a brief time when I was in 5th grade. That was the first time I had spent any time with my Grandma, but for some reason, I don't remember ever spending a holiday with her. I don't think we ever did- at least not from age 5 on. So her moving back here, was truely a gift for me. And at Thanksgiving, she was at my house- it was surreal(I hate that word, but can't think of another) even among all the preparations. She was staying here at our house for almost four weeks until her apartment was ready and so this past Saturday was her first official night at her new place. During the time she was here, we had alot of talks- songs, memories she has of my Dad as a child, things I never knew about this lady that I call Grandma. We had always kept in touch on the email and through letters, but it definately was not the same. And yet, even with the few live visits we've had, this lady made a real difference in my life. She taught me about Jesus when I was little and led me in prayer to accept him as my Savior. Alot of years later, this Grandma-who I know prays for her family feverishly, was integral in my recommittment to the Lord and where I am now. What if she didn't care or was too busy? What if she didn't tell me about Jesus- where would I be? What if she didn't pray? What if she gave up?
Thank goodness she didn't! So as Christmas approaches, and she is here with our family, I am extremely thankful for this time with her. We're blessed to have her in our lives.
