Gas prices

In Michigan, gas is $3.30 a gallon. In other areas, it's mostly lower than that, except in California where it's over $4.10. It makes me mad. It makes alot of people mad, but not as many are willing to do anything to change it. I've seen the emails boycotting Exxon, I'm on that bandwagon- but what I think will cause the worst hit to Opec, is just plain not buying as much. Cutting back by being organized. We've been doing it- it's not the easiest, but I refuse to pay that price for two vehicles! So Tuesday through Friday- Paul takes my car instead of his truck. My car gets like 24-26 mpg, his truck maybe 17. We've seen a huge cut in the amount of gas we buy each week. What used to take most of our grocery money is now nonexistant. Paul has to stop at the grocery store alot of times on his way home, but he doesn't mind too much. It's a sacrifice that we're forced to make. I don't get to visit my mom and dad as much though. That part stinks, but I do talk to them both on the phone.
So the people that live in town, I don't know if they have to cut back as much. I can see how easy it would to say, well it's only three blocks away, that doesn't take much gas. But it does. In town driving is even less efficient on the vehicles. At least spring is coming and maybe more people will walk. Maybe...I kind of think that the majority of the comfortable folk, just aren't willing to cut back to see the price go down. So the rest of us, will continue to pay the price. In Virginia, they started this thing called the snail line. People line up in a block, cars come by that are looking for extra passengers to help with the cost. It's ingenious! It's business people mostly commuting together. But it all helps! They did the same thing during prohibition apparently.
The moral of the story is that we as Americans should be willing to do whatever it takes to get the prices down and not to $3.00 a gallon- BACK TO $1.50! The oil companies want us to think that $3 gas is cheap, or that $2 gas is cheap. It's not cheap! And don't even get me started on the price of milk!:-)
