A good friend

This is a sad time for many. A dear friend went to the Lord Sunday morning, her name was affectionately known as Flossie. She was our church welcoming committee- hugging every new person who came- many have come to know the Lord and have grown in their faith because of her teaching and love. She made our church truely a loving place to be. She held a special place in everyone's hearts, but this is why she was so special to me.

When I first came back to Calvary five years ago, she was the first one to really make me feel welcome. She invited me to Wednesday night prayer meetings, invited me to join the choir, invited me to a Lake Ellen Hymn sing, etc and that's the way she was. Always very welcoming and encouraging. When I was scared to pray aloud in prayer meeting, she led the way. When I was scared to sing in the choir- we prayed for each other cause she was nervous too. And when she'd sing her solos, I'd pray for her. It took alot for her to get up in front of the church like that and was always so nervous- bless her heart.

She never had her own family, but easily adopted all the children in the church as her own. She loved and hugged each child every week. I know that every single person in that church was touched in such a wonderful way by this woman. Her best friends Janet Norcyk and Mary Magraff are planning the funeral for her- what a hard thing that must be. She left us so quickly, but with God's complete mercy. She had a stroke about three or four weeks ago. She was aware of her surroundings, but was quite paralyzed. Flossie would not have wanted to live if she was unable to talk or sing and the Lord knew that. I feel this peace knowing that I will sing again with her in heaven and that she'll greet me with a hug.
