Hangin' with Katia

We try around here, to make sure we give our kids equal time and attention. Sometimes, it means Katia going places with just Dad or Mom- or Mom taking Tyler to the movies, or Tayton goes with Dad in his "truck" to Grandpa's. I have read and heard so much about the differences in birth order and refuse to allow first, middle, or baby theories to really box the kids into those categories. I realize in someways, there's just not a way to change their natural behavior, but I want my kids to never say when they are grown, well I never got to do anything cause the older one was always chosen.
So this weekend, it ended up that Katia and I spent most of it together. Friday night, we had a bonfire and roasted dogs. Saturday afternoon we walked and golfed nine holes. Then the kids and I went to the liquidation store by our house. Tyler and Paul went out to camp to sight in and shoot the 22 rifle Tyler won in an Outdoor Kid event last year. Tayton napped and then went to town with Paul to do some "guy" stuff. Like a trip to Menards, his cousin's house, and my step brother's.
Sunday, the plan was that Paul would take Tyler in to church and Katia and I would go the dance studio early to get our number to buy the revue tickets. I haven't ever gone early in the morning, but last year spent the entire afternoon in line(four or five hours) and our weather has been so beautiful- I wanted to enjoy the day. I figured we'd stop by, grab a number and go to church. Wrong. The doors didn't open until noon to get a number and there is line just to go in! People were there at five am! We got there a little after eight and were number 15. That's pretty good for 300 dancers! Rumor from the pros in line said that the doors would open at 9:00 or 9:30. Wrong again, the doors didn't open till noon. So Katia and I waited in line for four hours, to get our number, to return at 3 to buy five tickets! The good thing was that Katia was an angel and many commented that they couldn't believe how good she was. We don't own a cell phone and I didn't go with a chair, nothing. A very nice lady ahead of me offered us an extra chair she had, and there was a Christian Grandma(she's a member of our church) behind me that bought Katia an egg mcmuffin and let us use her phone. Tyler was at church already so I needed to arrange for Paul to go and pick him up since I wasn't going to make it at all. So there we were in line, dressed for church and it was also payday. I needed to leave and drop off the checks at church, still. The nice Grandma told me she'd watch Katia while I left to go a block to drop them off. It all went fine. When we went back to buy the tickets, it only took 20 minutes which was way better. I don't know if I'd do it again, we'll see. Either way, it's alot of time in line whether you go early or not. We'll just have better seats this year.
After that we all went for a ride, went to a new playgroud to play, had ice cream sandwiches and then went back home to work in the yard for while. It was a great weekend!
